Yuting Lapintin Chen is a composer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who has written music for Film&TV, video games, animation, advertising, and other visual media. She is always inspired by sounds from her life experience, from abstract to concrete, from fantasy to reality to articulate the emotion of the story.
The animated short film ‘ Silence’ she scored, won the Best Animation Short Film at the Prague International Indie Film Festival, the Best Student Short Film at the New York International Film Awards (NYIFA), the Best Animation Film of the Month Award at the Direct Monthly Online Film Festival, the Best Animation Honorable Mention' at Miami Film Festival, the Finalist at Canada Shorts Film Festival and Los Angeles Animation Festival, and was selected as the Official Selection by the Goa Short Film Festival and the Animated Arizona Film Festival. Recently, her work ‘Stranger’ has been chosen as an official selection by the Miami Short Film Festival and premiered at The Directors Guild of America Theater, and BAM Rose Cinemas.
As for‘ Turtle’s Home,’ her first music album stands as beautiful reflections on her relationship with her grandma along with the abstract illustration, and the musical style she produced is the combination of Neo-classical, minimalism, and contemporary.
Yuting has also collaborated with theater performance, choreographer, and her compositions have been performed by award-winning musicians, ensembles, and orchestra. Coming from a well-trained classical background, she has been enthusiastic about creating new sounds with her voice and blending with orchestral, electronic, and multi-genre music. Her unique sound was featured in many film scores and premiered around the world.
Yuting received her Bachelor's degree in Music Composition and Production from National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan, and her Master of Fine Arts in Media Scoring from the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, Brooklyn College, studying with the award-winning composer Eric V. Hachikian. In 2018 Fall, she was selected as one of the mentees for the SCL mentor program. While focusing on writing music, she also studied Jazz piano with internationally acclaimed pianist Yayoi Ikawa and lately was commissioned as a session musician for Space Hotel Podcast. Also a performer, Yuting plays the piano, flute, guitar, ukulele, and cinematic vocal.
